ConfessionThe Idencia data tracking system is being used in more than 90 precast concrete plants, almost every one of which is doing so to track QC data. There is a simple reason for this: Idencia solves problems that are plaguing the QC department!

The process of working with prospective customers has been an interesting study in human nature because people typically don't want to admit that they have problems.

The irony is that most have the exact same problems!

So, we thought it would be a good idea to share the QC-related problems we have observed in the industry so that you can:

1) Know your problems aren't unique; and

2) Find good company in others using our solution.

With that, here are the top 5 problems that prompted our customers to use Idencia (ranked in order of impact not prevalence):

 

1. QC data was not recorded

This is actually the least prevalent issue but certainly the most impactful.  We have had a handful of customers admit that they had recently experienced an employee neglecting to collect QC data. Consequently, they decided that a transparent system was needed to create accountability. The Idencia system logs who was conducting the inspection along with a date and time stamp.

2. Inconsistent data collection

Using paper on a clipboard creates the potential for missed entries and input errors. A digital system like Idencia’s can be set up to be structured. For instance, a user can be prevented from proceeding if selected data is not entered. An input can also be set up to require a specific level of detail. If a numeric entry is not in a required range or with enough decimal points, the system will prevent the user from proceeding.

3. Fragmented records

Paper records are limited in the type of data they contain. With digital data collection, QC records can include pictures, geo-location, signatures and more within the record. 4. Time spent creating reports

In a paper-based system, the required reports must be created after the data is collected. A digital system reduces this time to zero because the reports are automatically generated upon collection of the data. Additionally, digital records can be used much more easily for analytic purposes.  Want to see the form or bed that is the source of the most NCRs? There is an automatic report or dashboard tile for that.

5. Volumes of paper

It will be no surprise to any veteran QC manager to learn that we have seen customers who have set aside entire rooms just to hold their QC logs and reports. With a digital system, the reports are stored in the cloud until you want to print them out.
