Documents in the field

Based on our experience in just the first quarter, 2016 will likely be viewed in retrospect as a tipping point for precast product tracking. Why? Our prospects are now starting to deliver a vision that is beyond our own original view.

Our original view held that the value of using a precast RFID tracking system is centered in two dimensions:

  1. Cost efficiency of replacing paper with tablets, and
  2. Customer value produced from delivering information with the product.

Prospects are now suggesting to us that RFID tracking can deliver value in a third dimension: Construction productivity.

How can concrete tracking improve construction productivity? By applying the principals of lean manufacturing to remove seams between different functions in the construction process.

Our prospects tell us that bridging the information gap between the front office and the field provides a great opportunity for improved productivity in the construction process.

So, they've suggested, if a construction worker can scan an RFID chip embedded in a precast concrete product in the field... and then view the construction documents related to that piece on a tablet or phone... that would be a boon to construction productivity.

We've heard this and, true to our agile development philosophy, we are developing this feature as we speak. Check out our short SlideShare presentation to see how this will work:

To our prospects, we say thank you!  We believe that the best products result from just this kind of collaboration. Please keep the suggestions coming!
