Wow, what a year 2023 has been. Between everything happening in the precast industry and everything happening at Idencia, there is much to reflect on. Below is just a small sample of what has happened in both the precast industry and here at Idencia.

2023 and the Precast Industry

There is a lot that has changed throughout the year for the precast industry. Some things have carried over from years past and others have begun bubbling up in relevance throughout the year. Check out some of the trends from this year:

Continued Labor Issues

Since the pandemic, finding quality labor has been an increasing problem for the construction industry, and 2023 is no different. We wrote a blog earlier this year looking at this problem and seeing how other precasters are handling this situation. Solutions ranged from internal support, referral systems and developing a company culture people want to work for.

Sustainability

Sustainability has been a global topic for years. And when it comes down to concrete in construction, precast concrete is much more environmentally friendly in comparison to pour in place. With a heavy emphasis on sustainability in the construction industry, it is important to consider materials being used in each specific product and being efficient in regards to the usage of raw materials.

Which, by the way, Idencia is a great way for producers to keep track of their products and raw materials and be able to report on both. Reach out to us if you want to learn more.

Environmental Product Declarations

Tying into the sustainability trend, environmental product declarations (EPDs) are making their way to the concrete industry. States across the country are beginning to create mandates that require precast producers to provide EPDs for each of their products. This is a change to typical workflows and requires information not directly tracked by producers. EPDs are continuing to become more relevant and timely if producers want to continue doing business.

Keep an eye out on what Idencia is doing to help support the precast industry with the new requirements of EPDs. A big announcement is coming in preparation for The Precast Show 2024!

2023 and Idencia

Idencia has had a tremendous year with many initiatives taking wing and seeing successes along the way. It was a growth year where Idencia took time to look internally at building up the business and creating sustainable systems to provide the best product and service for our customers. Check out some of the highs from this year:

Added Staff

Starting at the beginning of 2023, Idencia began looking to grow its numbers. They added two new team members throughout the year, with the first one being Caitlyn Knezevic (Brand Manager) and the second being a new person in our sales department. Having new team members is one way to continue to invigorate innovation as fresh ideas are welcome and allow us all to grow as a team. We look forward to adding even more staff throughout 2024!

Website Overhaul

One of the initiatives of bringing on a dedicated marketer was to overhaul the website. We were able to launch a completely new website that details the Idencia software and makes the experience better for prospects and customers. If you haven’t already, we hope you will take the time to check out the update: https://www.idencia.com/

Lean Certifications

When looking internally at our systems, Jeff Pollock (CEO) took the initiative to lead the company down the path to becoming Lean Certified and used the methodology to analyze and refresh our strategies. Every one of us at Idencia completed the certification process to become White Belts through the Lean Six Sigma Institute. Tracy Johnson (COO) further led us through the framework to discuss the necessary changes we needed to make in order to make Idencia lean. Our Product Owner, Jillian Guthrie, plans to further her lean knowledge and aims to become Yellow Belt certified.

Industry Events

We recognized this year that the best way to get to know our industry is through attending events. This year we’ve attended more industry events than ever before and found all of the relationships we fostered while we were there to be beneficial for all. Our goal for 2024 is to continue to attend as many events as we can to continue to learn and get to know precast producers from all over North America. Some of the events we attended include The Precast Show 2023, PCI Marketing & Sales School, 58th NPCA Annual Convention, APA Annual Convention and CPCI’s Canadian Precast Concrete Convention.

Looking Forward to 2024

This upcoming year is going to be filled with many exciting initiatives and announcements. This year was all about relationship building in both the precast industry as well as to develop partnerships to better our offerings and helpfulness for the industry. We are excited to announce new integrations, product launches and more. Be sure to follow us on LinkedIn to catch the latest news coming from Idencia.

Lastly, we want to thank all of our customers and partners for their continued support throughout the year. We are looking forward to the continued success for us all in 2024.
