Infrastructure Precast, Inc. replaced another software and a stack of spreadsheets with Idencia's RFID-based quality control platform in October 2024. Every product now carries an embedded RFID chip tied to its full inspection history. When an NPCA auditor asked for daily reinforcement records, John Hightower pulled them up in one click.

The challenge: spreadsheets and no traceability
Before Idencia, Infrastructure Precast used another software for pre-pour and post-pour checks. Everything else lived in spreadsheets. There was no product traceability, and with so many sheets to keep up with, it was hard to tell which products were ready to ship.
"There's no traceability. We're still doing a lot of spreadsheets. Difficult to find out what product is ready to ship because there's too many spreadsheets."
The solution: RFID tracking built around their own process
John chose Idencia because he could map out QC workflows the way he wanted them to run. He laid out his vision, and the platform gave him the tools to build it.
Each product now has an embedded RFID chip. Inspectors record what was checked, how it was checked, and who checked it, with photos attached. An additional processes tab shows what still needs to happen before a product can ship, such as coring or painting.
The switch wasn't easy. John calls it a tough transition, and says the support team made the difference.
"All I have to do is email Keri... Within 10 minutes, she looks into it and it's done."
The results: live data and a smooth NPCA audit
- No more extra spreadsheets. Daily and weekly QC tasks now run through Idencia. John says there are zero extra spreadsheets left to track.
- Live ship-readiness. Dashboard tabs act as a KPI board, so the team can see what's pending on any product before it ships.
- Audit records in one click. During an October 2026 NPCA audit, the auditor asked for daily reinforcement inspections. John clicked once and showed them, along with the product's RFID serial number. It was the first time the auditor had seen a setup like it.
"Our product has an RFID chip embedded in it. All you have to do is go scan it and it tells you the history of everything about it."
In John's words
"Software in the precast facilities is only as good as the onboarding and the daily support. The Idencia team actually picks up the phone, understands how a busy yard operates, and resolves questions on the spot rather than leaving you stuck."
"What sets Idencia apart isn't just the software, it's their customer support bringing RFID and digital QC out to the plant floor."

FAQ
How does RFID help with NPCA audit preparation? Each product's RFID chip links to its inspection history. During an audit, QC managers can scan the product or open its record to show inspections, photos, and who signed off.
Can a precast plant set up its own QC workflows in Idencia? Yes. Infrastructure Precast built its workflows around how John wanted his processes to run.
How long has Infrastructure Precast used Idencia? The plant onboarded on October 16, 2024.
